Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Carsavaar, an Indian self-drive car rental aggregator operating across 833+ cities including Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Goa, Jaipur, Indore and Gwalior. By accessing https://carsavaar.com, submitting an inquiry, or renting a vehicle through us, you agree to the terms below. These terms are written specifically for self-drive car rentals in India and supersede any generic templates. Please read carefully — by booking with Carsavaar you accept every clause that follows.
1. Eligibility & Driver Requirements
- Minimum driver age is 21 years for hatchbacks and sedans (Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, Honda City etc.) and 23 years for SUVs (Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV700).
- Premium and luxury vehicles — Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Thar, BMW, Mercedes — require the driver to be 25 years or older with at least 2 years of post-licence driving experience.
- You must hold a valid Indian Permanent Driving Licence (not Learner's Licence) that is at least 1 year old. Photocopies, scanned images and DigiLocker copies are accepted along with the original at pickup.
- For foreign nationals, an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with the original home-country licence is mandatory. A passport copy with valid Indian visa stamp must also be presented.
- The renter named on the booking must be the primary driver and must be present at pickup. Additional drivers can be added free of cost provided they meet the same eligibility criteria.
- Carsavaar may verify your driving record through state RTO databases and reserves the right to decline service to drivers with prior offences for drunk driving, hit-and-run, or rash driving convictions.
2. Inquiry, Quote & Booking Confirmation
- Carsavaar operates on an inquiry-based custom quote model — we do not list fixed online prices because rates vary by city, season, kilometre cap, fuel plan and trip purpose.
- Submitting the inquiry form on any city or car page only registers your request. Our Gwalior-based team will call you within 5 minutes during business hours (or by 9:00 AM next day if submitted overnight) with a personalised quote.
- The quoted price is valid for 24 hours. Booking is confirmed only after you (a) accept the quote, (b) pay the booking advance via UPI / NEFT / IMPS, and (c) receive a written confirmation on WhatsApp or email.
- Carsavaar may decline a booking if the requested car is unavailable in your city, if the trip purpose violates these terms (e.g., commercial taxi use), or if you fail eligibility verification.
- We do not currently support instant online booking. All confirmations involve a human verification step to maintain quality.
3. Required Documents at Pickup
- Original Permanent Driving Licence — physical card or DigiLocker proof (we will not accept verbal claims or expired licences under any circumstance).
- One government-issued photo ID — Aadhaar card, Passport, Voter ID, or PAN card. Aadhaar may be presented in masked form (UIDAI-issued masked Aadhaar) for privacy.
- Booking confirmation email or WhatsApp message from Carsavaar (screenshot is acceptable).
- One additional address-proof document for outstation trips longer than 5 days (utility bill, rent agreement, or employer letter).
- Failure to present valid documents at the time of vehicle handover results in full booking cancellation without refund — there are no exceptions to this clause.
4. Pricing, Kilometre Caps & Fuel Policy
All rupee figures in this section are starting-from indicative bands. Your actual rental agreement will state the exact figures applicable to your booking based on car, city and dates.
- Daily rentals typically include a kilometre cap of 200-300 km/day. Extra kilometres are charged starting from a base per-km rate that scales with car class — hatchbacks at the lowest band, sedans/compact SUVs in the mid band, full SUVs and luxury cars in the upper band. The exact per-km figure is shared with your custom quote.
- Outstation packages may include unlimited kilometres at a slight per-day premium — confirm with our team during the quote call. Outstation surcharges for multi-state trips are priced as a small per-day premium starting from a base rate.
- Cars are delivered with a specific fuel level recorded in the rental agreement. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level. Shortfall is charged at the day's pump rate plus a refuelling fee starting from a base figure.
- Daily charges accrue per 24-hour cycle. Late returns beyond 59 minutes from the agreed drop-off time attract a charge of one extra day at the same rate.
- All prices are quoted in Indian Rupees (INR) inclusive of GST where applicable. Tolls (FASTag), parking, inter-state permits and challans are the customer's responsibility.
- Monthly rentals are available starting from a custom monthly figure that depends on car class and city (typically lower in tier-3 cities, higher in Mumbai/Bangalore). Submit your dates for an exact monthly quote.
5. Security Deposit
- A refundable security deposit is collected at vehicle handover via UPI hold or bank transfer. The deposit starts from a base amount that scales by car class — hatchbacks at the lowest band, sedans in the mid band, SUVs in the upper-mid band, luxury and 4×4 vehicles at the premium band. The exact figure is shared with your quote.
- The deposit is refunded within 24-48 hours of return after the car is inspected for damage, fuel level, and challans during the rental window are checked on the Parivahan portal.
- Outstanding traffic challans, fuel shortfalls, or vehicle damage are deducted from the deposit before refund. The remaining balance is paid back via UPI to the same account used for the deposit.
6. Vehicle Use & Driving Restrictions
- The rented vehicle must be used only for personal, non-commercial purposes. Sub-letting, ride-sharing through Ola/Uber/Rapido, freight/cargo, taxi service, or any commercial passenger transport is strictly prohibited.
- Driving under influence of alcohol, drugs, or prescription medication that impairs ability is grounds for immediate booking termination, vehicle recall, and full deposit forfeiture.
- Off-road driving, river crossings, beach driving (including Goa beaches outside designated paths), and rally-style cornering are prohibited unless the rental is explicitly an off-road 4×4 package on a verified terrain.
- Inter-state travel from your pickup state requires prior intimation — some states (Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana) levy entry permit fees starting from a base figure that varies by state and vehicle category, payable by the renter.
- Smoking, vaping, paan/gutkha consumption, or carrying pets is prohibited inside the vehicle. Cleaning fees starting from a base figure apply for violations and scale with the extent of cleaning required.
- The vehicle must not be driven beyond the maximum speed limit (typically 100 km/h on highways, 80 km/h in cities, 50 km/h in residential zones) — most Carsavaar cars are GPS-tracked and over-speed alerts trigger a fine starting from a base amount per incident.
- Carrying more passengers than the seating capacity (e.g., 6 in a 5-seater) is prohibited and voids insurance coverage.
7. Cancellation, Modification & Refund Tiers
- 72+ hours before pickup: 100% refund of advance amount within 5-7 business days.
- 24-72 hours before pickup: 75% refund of advance amount.
- 4-24 hours before pickup: 50% refund of advance amount.
- Less than 4 hours or no-show: No refund. Full advance is forfeited as the car is held for you and could not be rented to another customer.
- Booking modifications (date change, car class upgrade/downgrade) are free if requested 24+ hours before pickup, subject to availability. Within 24 hours, a small amendment fee applies (starting from a base amount).
- Carsavaar-initiated cancellations (vehicle breakdown, driver illness, unavoidable operational issues) result in full refund plus an inconvenience credit (starting from a base amount) for your next booking.
8. Insurance & Damage Liability
- Every Carsavaar rental includes comprehensive insurance from IRDAI-licensed insurers covering third-party liability and own-damage as per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
- Standard policy carries a deductible (called 'excess') starting from a base figure that scales by car class — hatchbacks lowest, sedans in the mid band, SUVs higher, luxury vehicles at the top. The renter pays this deductible directly toward repair costs after a claim. Exact figure is shared with the quote.
- Optional Zero-Deductible Add-on can be added during quote — priced as a small per-day premium starting from a base rate that scales with car class. Drops your damage liability to zero for any single covered incident.
- Insurance does NOT cover: damage from drunk driving, racing, off-road driving outside permitted terrain, theft of personal belongings inside the car, or damage from natural disasters outside policy scope.
- In case of an accident: (1) ensure everyone's safety, (2) call +91 6261755976 immediately, (3) file an FIR at the nearest police station within 24 hours, (4) do not admit liability or accept cash settlements at the scene, (5) photograph the vehicle and surroundings.
- Tyre punctures, windscreen cracks under 5cm, and minor scratches are covered under standard policy if reported on the same day.
9. Roadside Assistance & Breakdown
- Carsavaar provides 24×7 roadside assistance across 833+ cities. Call +91 6261755976 for any breakdown, accident, or emergency.
- For mechanical breakdowns due to manufacturing defects or wear-and-tear, a replacement vehicle is dispatched within 4-8 hours in metros, 8-24 hours in tier-2/3 cities. There is no charge for the swap.
- Breakdowns caused by renter negligence (running out of fuel, locking keys inside, draining battery from leaving lights on) are billable starting from a base service fee — exact figure depends on the city, time of day and the specific service required.
- Tyre blowouts on highways are repaired free of cost if the tyre tread depth is within original specs. Damaged-beyond-repair tyres are charged at depreciated value.
10. Doorstep Delivery & Pickup
- Doorstep delivery is available across most metros and tier-2 cities (Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Goa, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata).
- Free delivery within city limits. Beyond-city-limit delivery (10+ km from our hub) attracts a charge starting from a base distance fee, scaling with the distance from our hub.
- Airport delivery is available at major airports (BOM, DEL, BLR, HYD, MAA, GOI, AMD, JAI) — additional airport access fee starting from a base figure is charged by airport authorities, passed through at cost.
- For pickup, the customer must inspect the vehicle in our representative's presence, sign the rental agreement, and confirm fuel + odometer readings on the handover sheet. Disputes raised after handover are not entertained.
11. Limitation of Liability
- Carsavaar acts as a self-drive car rental aggregator connecting customers with verified rental partners across India. The actual vehicle owner is the rental partner whose details appear on your invoice.
- Our maximum liability is limited to the total booking amount paid for the specific rental in dispute. We do not accept liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
- Carsavaar is not liable for: loss of personal belongings inside the vehicle, missed flights/trains/events caused by traffic or vehicle issues, business losses, or weather-related trip disruption.
- Force majeure events (natural disasters, government orders, civil unrest, lockdowns, road closures) excuse Carsavaar from performance obligations — refunds in such cases are processed at our discretion.
12. Privacy & Data Protection
Your personal information — driving licence number, ID proof, contact details, trip data — is handled per our Privacy Policy. Carsavaar does not sell, rent, or trade personal data with third-party marketers. Data shared with rental partners is limited to fulfilling your specific booking.
13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These terms are governed by Indian law including the Indian Contract Act 1872, Motor Vehicles Act 1988, Consumer Protection Act 2019, and applicable IT and data protection regulations. Any dispute is first attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. Failing that, disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
14. Modifications to These Terms
Carsavaar may revise these terms periodically. The revision date appears at the top of this page. Significant changes are emailed to registered customers and posted on our homepage. Continued use of our services 30 days after a revision constitutes acceptance.
